The Holtermann Collection at the State Library of NSW notes this image as being Tambaroora St. The image is one of Merlins American and Australasian Photographic Companies earlier images of Hill End before October 1872. The image was taken in the vicinity of the present Royal Hall. Originally known as Tambaroora Road then later renamed Beyers Avenue. This is the Road to Tambaroora Township and is NOT Tambaroora St in Hill End. The Australian Hotel was not yet built on the opposite corner to Hamblys Timber Yard. (653) |
